Celebrating Small Moments

Students in our First Grade classroom were very excited to share their Small Moment stories to their classmates last week. We just finished our first unit of our Lucy Calkins writing program, Small Moments and the students had the chance to publish their writing with a title page listing their title of their story, author and a beautiful colored illustration to match their story. All of the students did a great job listening and sharing their stories to one another.

Maine Wildlife Park!

Our First Grade students had a great time learning more about how animals get ready for winter at Maine Wildlife Park last week. We saw many animals growing more fur, storing food and a firsthand look at their dens. This was a wonderful experience for our learners!

L.O.C.A.L. Garden

We have had a great start to the year in First Grade. We were given the wonderful opportunity to visit the L.O.C.A.L. Garden yesterday to learn more about how plants grow and harvesting vegetables. Students had a wonderful time inspecting and investigating the vegetables and plants at the garden along with taste testing carrots!

Field Day!

The end of the school year is fast approaching! Last week, our entire school participated in field day. The afternoon consisted of a cook out and many games. Our first grade class had a blast!
